Lillie's House offers unique intergenerational programming that increases learning and promotes communication between generations encouraging an exchange of skills, knowledge and experience. Children and residents of Hillcrest Health Plaza engage in meaningful and fun activities including storytelling, music and movement, creative art experiences, gardening, cooking and sharing of talents on a daily basis. The children develop friendships, learn compassion and care for their many resident friends. The residents enjoy seeing the children as they go on a walks throughout the Hillcrest Health Plaza. The toddlers enjoy visiting and shaking hands in addition to many planned activities. The preschool children like to play simple games, engage in creative art experiences and hear stories from the residents. Both generations benefit from the unique experience, gain respect for one another, learn and have fun! Smiling faces, laughter and hugs are a part of each intergenerational activity. |
