Lillie's house provides care for toddlers, 18 months through 3 years of age. In the toddler room, emphasis is placed on language development through reading stories, singing songs, reciting finger plays and frequent dialogue with the children. Independence is a characteristic of this age group, and the team members encourage children to complete tasks independently whenever possible. The toddlers have a daily routine that is followed which includes creative art activities, sensory experiences and outdoor playtime. Monthly themes guide their activities and learning. The toddlers engage in intergenerational activities with the residents of Hillcrest Health Plaza on a regular basis including parachute, play blocks, and play dough activities. Families are welcome at any time. In addition, special activities are planned each month to invite parents to learn more about the program. Parent-Teacher Conferences are held semi-annually to provide parents the opportunity to have input into the care their child receives and to establish goals for their growth, development and learning. |
